Any chance the WebDAV requirement will go away?

Post  hpostley on Tue Oct 14, 2008 6:26 pm

We have Exchange 2007 with ISA Server 2006. WebDAV is something of a security hack to begin with but implementing it in a secure way in this environment is nearly impossible. Is there a chance that the requirement will go away in an updated version in the somewhat near future?

WebDAV is the only possiblity

Post  Admin on Thu Oct 16, 2008 4:16 pm

unfortunalty, this is currently the only "working" way to get the data on different versions, e.g. 2000/2003 and 2007.
I have checked the webservices, but found only limited support for your application demand. It's possible to make free/busy queries using MS Exchange 2007 WebService, but I found no way to get "full access" to the calendar of another person....

DAV as the only way to access other users' data

Post  hpostley on Fri Oct 17, 2008 7:40 pm

Are you sure about that? After I log into OWA, there is a box that lets me select the user whose data I want to access. I can also go directly to any user via the URL: https://mail.mydomain.com/owa/userid@mydomain.com/

Also note that the TaskData app appears to be able to access user data (task data, in their case) without using WebDAV.

Thanks,

Howard

By the way, Outlook it without WebDAV

Just an FYI, Outlook can access any user's data via Outlook Anywhere (aka RPC over HTTP), which does not use WebDAV.
